Strange Laws in the USA: A Quirky Video Journey Through 50 States

For July 4th this year I really wanted to do something patriotic. And I mean something more patriotic than BBQ, fireworks and buying stuff on my credit card.

Then it hit me: I love hearing about the crazy laws that still exist on the books across this great nation. Things like “Quakers and Witches are banned” in Massachusetts or that biting someone with your real teeth in Louisiana is a “simple assault” while biting someone with your false teeth is “aggravated assault.” The wacky, the quirky and the downright weird stuff you can find out there will blow your mind ( like don’t mess with Sasquatch in Washington state).

Now one of the best resources for all things looney legal is a site called DumbLaws.com. The site author provides summaries and full text of some of these laws all categorized by State. Also, if you search YouTube you can find some videos with text and music that go through some of these laws. One thing that bothered me about the available videos, however, was that none of them covered all 50 states (very unpatriotic!) and none of them had any images to go with the presentation.

And so, Strange Laws in the USA was born. I put together a collection of my favorite laws along with images and soundtrack that I think is most fitting for the subject matter. Enjoy the video and Happy 4th of July weekend!
